Meet Damión Perkins

Damion Perkins is a multi-faceted theatre professional. In BOXES she plays several characters including Nana and the unforgettable Aunt Pearl. Damion credits her “courage” to continue her passion of acting from her son Nayion who continues to motivate and inspire her.

In addition to performing on stage she is also a Creative Drama Education Specialist for Kaiser Permanente’s Educational Theatre Program. Damion has her Masters Degree in Theater Education from The Catholic University of America and also specializes in arts integration by connecting creativity with content curriculum taught in schools. She has worked as a Middle School Theatre teacher for a Public Charter School in DC, and has been producing and directing middle and high school students for the past 5 years in shows such as “The Tempest” and “Cymbeline” at the Folger Shakespeare Library. damionsmiling2

Damion has always found a way to combine her commitment to youth development with her love for the performing arts. She has worked with local theaters such as Arena Stage and Young Playwright’s Theater as an actor and teaching artist touring local schools using theater to motivate and inspire.

Damion has also developed programming and curriculum dealing with HIV Aids awareness, Conflict Resolution, Self Esteem and Bullying for most of her theatre career working with companies such as Everyday Theatre, Words, Beats & Life, Living Stage and now Kaiser ETP using theatre and performance to teach this curriculum to middle and high school students.

We are proud to have this dynamic performer and dedicated educator as a part of the “Boxes” production.
